New York City is a great place for families to visit. A vacation to the Big Apple can not only be fun but educational as well. A walk through neighborhoods such as Chinatown and Little Italy is a great way to introduce your child to different cultures and customs. Central Park is a lovely place for kids no matter what time of year. Warm sunny days just scream picnic. The old time merry-go-round is a blast for kids of all ages, shapes and sizes. There are also numerous playgrounds throughout the city. Hippo Park is extremely popular. Kids can climb on hippos or display their creative talents at the arts and crafts table. What do children love more than anything else in the world? Toys, toys, toys! The Forbes Magazine Galleries features over 500 antique toy ships and 12,000 toy soldiers. FAO Schwartz is a child’s dream come true. Hours can be spent in this famous toy store as if no time has passed at all. There are also numerous bookstores throughout the city that offer children’s storytelling time throughout the week. The Donnell Library is home to Christopher Robin’s original playmates including Winnie-the-Pooh, Kanga and Piglet. The first children’s museum in the world, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, opened in 1899. For over 100 years the museum has been a fun and educational place for kids to visit. The Literally Alive Children’s Theater brings kids’ favorite stories and book characters to life.
